The Week in Review, 11/22/10-11/28/10

I started out blogging with the scale reading: 223.5lbs
As of this morning, the scale reads: 219 lbs
Total Weight Lost: 4.5 lbs
This is better than last week.

I started out the week hoping to do at least 3 days of exercise.
This week, I walked and ran on 3 days.
This is less than last week.

This week, I wanted to keep my calories around 1700 per day.
My best day logged 1640 calories and my worst day logged 2290 calories.
My average calories, per day, for the week, were 1907.
This is worse than last week.

On a scale from 1-10, with 10 being a complete success with no regrets, I would give this week a 9.  While I wish that I'd gotten a yoga class in, I am happy that I was active three times, including my longest run ever!!!  On top of that, I am so excited that I was able to continue losing weight over Thanksgiving!!!  With the food of Thanksgiving and the day after (eggnog anyone???), I was really concerned that I would go overboard, but I didn't.  I took smaller helpings so that I could have a little of everything that I wanted and, although I wasn't "stuffed", I was satiated, and that was enough.  I cut myself off.  And, my reward was that my weight loss continued- even over this huge "eat, eat, eat" holiday.  Seeing that 219 on the scale was a huge boom to my weight loss journey.  It makes counting calories and exercising so worth it to see the pounds melting off.  And, on top of that, I've been losing my pants! (21 pounds will do that!!!)  I actually had to order pants a size smaller than my currents!  Thrilling!!!

***
Thanksgiving was a day that I was not looking forward to, calorie wise.  In addition to being surrounded by family and friends and so much good food, I just couldnt anticipate not eating to my heart's content.  But, since I was serving, I just put smaller helpings.  You could actually see my plate under my food!  I was able to taste a little of everything and had no more than 5-6 bites of any one thing.  When I was finished, I wasnt hungry... I wasnt stuffed either, but I could have eaten more.  I just chose not to.  I figured that, if I were hungry later, I'd eat something else.

Which is what happened... So, I had a few slices of turkey.  Right now, I want to eat more (because it is soooo good!!!) but I am choosing not to...  Because I'm not hungry!

The Week in Review, 11/15/10-11/21/10

I started out blogging with the scale reading: 227.5lbs
As of this morning, the scale reads: 223.5lbs
Total Weight Lost: 4 lbs
This is better than last week.

I started out the week hoping to do at least 3 days of exercise.
This week, I ran, biked, and did yoga on 4 days.
This is the same as last week.

This week, I wanted to keep my calories around 1700* per day.
My best day logged 1475 calories and my worst day logged 1905 calories.
My average calories, per day, for the week, were 1675.
This is better than last week.

On a scale from 1-10, with 10 being a complete success with no regrets, I would give this week an 8.  I changed my calorie goals from 1500 to 1700* because I felt that 1700 was a more doable number, but also a number that gives me good weight loss results.  As a result of that change, I made my goal on several days and my weekly calorie average was 1675.  I'm learning that I can eat healthy and within my goals and not be famished or feel unhappy with my food choices.  I am happy with my working out and would like to change my goal to 4x/week, since it is a doable number for me.  I am happy with how running and yoga make me feel on the inside as well as the outside visibility of losing weight.   Having the support of Peter AND having Sarah as a running partner makes this an easier endeavor.

On a scale from 1-10, with 10 being a complete success with no regrets, I would give this week a 4.  I am so happy with my physical activity and the fact that my 5K time was 37:58.  But my food choices were abyssal.  I actually saw 225 on the scale and it is heartbreaking that my tally for the week is 2.5 pounds heavier than that.  It's all about the food choices.  I can do better.  I've shown that.  I just have to do it.

On a scale from 1-10, with 10 being a complete success with no regrets, I would give Nov 1-7, a ranking of 6.  I am really proud of myself for running in the rain and for hitting a 4 mile run (alone no less!) but I am really disappointed in my food choices.  Seeing 226 on the scale was great, but with food choices like this, it is no wonder my loss was only 1 pound.

Dinner: We went to Bocelli's, so all of thes are estimates.  I honestly dont even want to think about the calories.  Peter and I (and the babies) split a salmon carpacio.  I had about 6-8oz of red wine with my dinner of chicken parm over spaghetti.  Then, I had an espresso and shared some tiramisu with Maya. Finally, I had a shot of lemoncello.  I had to eat at least 2500 calories... I'm sure of it.  We'll go with that.

Which means I'm starting off November pretty poorly, at about 3450 calories.  EEK!!!  Tomorrow has GOT to be a better day!

Month In Review: October 2010

I began October weighing 240lbs with a BMI of 37.6.
As of November 1st, I weigh 227lbs and have a BMI of 35.6
I have lost 13lbs and 2 BMI points.

I began October being lucky to workout 1 time a week/4 times a month.  For the month of October, I worked out 14 times, with a mix of yoga, running, and walking.  This averages to 3.5 times a week.

My calorie goal per day for October was to consume 1500 calories.  My best day was 1186 and my worst day was 3440, for an average of 1708.5 per day.  This is 208.5 over my goal, however, I can accept this.

Overall, I am very proud of my accomplishments this month.  I know that weight typically comes off faster when first making lifestyle changes, however, if I loss 1-2 lbs per week, I will be happy with this as "healthy weight loss".

The Week in Review, 10/25-10/31/10

I started out blogging with the scale reading: 231.5lbs
As of this morning, the scale reads: 227lbs
Total Weight Lost: 4.5lbs
This is better than last week.

I started out the week hoping to do at least 2 days of exercise.
This week, I walked & ran on 2 days, and did a power yoga class on 1 days, for a total of 3 days.
This is the same as last week.

This week, I wanted to keep my calories around 1500 per day.
My best day logged 1550 calories and my worst day logged 2070 calories.
My average calories, per day, for the week, were 1822.5.
This is better than last week.

On a scale from 1-10, with 10 being a complete success with no regrets, I would give Oct 25th-Oct 31st, a ranking of 8.  I am okay with the exercise, although I would have liked to have made yoga a second day.  We moved on Friday and Saturday, and I broke a sweat several times.  I know that, although it isn't formal exercise, it was good activity.  I wasn't able to log food 3 days (due to moving) but, even with junk food around, I made okay choices.  Also, even though I ate some candy on Halloween, I cut myself off and refused to binge.  It's still in the house, but I am walking by it without even picking it up.  I am really proud of myself for this.  Best of all, the scale has hit 227; seeing that "2" as a second number is doing great for my mental well-being.

Friday, 10/29-Sunday, 10/31

A few days at once and no calories...  We moved this weekend, so, I dont have calorie info, and, although we ate pizza, etc, while moving, and I snacked on some candy yesterday, I feel like I did a decent job (especially with so much temptation!!!!)   And, to prove it, the scale this morning read 227!!!  Yay for me!!!
